A virus that deletes T and B cells is bad, we don’t have endemic, hiv, polio etc
T and B cells, are different than inate cells. T and B cells have memory of every infection you ever had in your life. However, Niave (new) T and B cells are neccessary to adapt your immune system to any new infection you may have in the future.
Inate cells respond to infections, In this case they never stop releasing an inflammatory molecule called Interferon. So your body is a constant state of fighting disease. Ie Muscle aches, cardiac damage
There is nothing weird about viral antigens in lymph nodes, that's precisely Andrew's point. Follicular dendritic cells trap the Spike mRNA/protein to stimulate B cells. In fact, the authors explicitly say that impaired antigen presentation in LN may be the cause of severe C
Out of my null understanding of inmunology: shouldn’t antigens be presented by dendritic cells and then just stop being present, as memory b cells will “store the info”. Is it normal to have rna or antigens roaming around lymph nodes for long???
It is normal, and necessary, for the intact antigen to stick around in the lymph node for months. There, the B cells and their antibodies experience something called affinity maturation thanks to the prolonged and intact antigen presentation by the FDCs.
T cells are presented by dendritic cells, but B cells are presented by ‘follicular dendritic cells’, which are actually mesenchymal cells. Both happen in the lymph nodes. These FDCs trap bacterial structures, complete virions and many other types of antigens for months or years.
So its as contagious as measles. destroys your immune system and causes coagulation issues. Lets call it mild.
